THE WEST SIDE TOUR
itinerary
CAMARA DE LOBOS
Picturesque fishing town located on the southern coast of Madeira, Portugal. Known for its colorful boats and charming bay, it offers a glimpse into traditional Madeiran life. The town gained international fame when British Prime Minister Winston Churchill visited in 1950. Churchill was captivated by
the scenic beauty and chose to paint the town’s iconic harbor, further popularizing Câmara de Lobos as a tourist destination. His visit remains a
celebrated part of the town’s rich cultural history.
CABO GIRAO
Located on the southern coast of Madeira, is one of the island's most spectacular natural landmarks. Standing at an impressive 580 meters (1,902 feet)
above sea level, it is one of the highest sea cliffs in Europe. The viewpoint at Cabo Girão features a glass skywalk, offering visitors a thrilling experience
and breathtaking panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, the lush terraced fields below, and the coastline stretching towards Funchal.
RIBEIRA BRAVA
Charming town on Madeira's southwestern coast, is named after the "wild river" that runs through it. Known for its warm and welcoming atmosphere, Ribeira Brava boasts a picturesque waterfront with a scenic promenade, lined with cafes and shops.
FANAL FOREST
Known for its ancient laurel trees, some of which are hundreds of years old and draped in moss, creating a mystical atmosphere. Hiking trails crisscross through the forest, offering visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in nature and discover the diverse flora and fauna that thrive in this
UNESCO World Heritage site. Fanal is a peaceful sanctuary where time seems to stand still.
RIBEIRA DA JANELA
Located on the north coast of Madeira, is known for its stunning natural beauty and rugged coastline. It features a picturesque valley with steep cliffs and a charming village nestled beside a rocky beach. The area is popular among photographers and nature lovers for its dramatic scenery and the cascading waterfall that flows into the Atlantic Ocean.
SAO VICENTE
Offers visitors a charming blend of historic architecture, quaint streets, and stunning coastal views. The town is famous for its volcanic caves. Surrounding landscape of São Vicente is equally captivating, with verdant valleys, terraced vineyards producing Madeira wine.
PORTO MONIZ & VOLCANIC POOLS
Renowned for its natural volcanic pools, a unique geological formation that attracts visitors from around the world. These pools were formed by volcanic lava
flows that cooled and solidified, creating safe and natural swimming areas filled with crystal-clear seawater. Visitors can enjoy swimming in these naturally
formed pools, which are replenished by the tide, ensuring clean and constantly renewed seawater.
